Mission Update - July 13, 2005
Tiffany Vora - Resolute Bay

So close - but yet so far . . .
So close - but yet so far . . .

Please be advised that the second flight came back to Resolute Bay after aborting the landing at Devon due to weather. Now in non-technical speak: We got SO CLOSE - we were only 150 feet above the runway when the pilot aborted. But the fog was quite bad, and when we returned to Resolute the fog was even worse there - I was worried that we weren't even landing in Resolute!

Then Judd called and said the weather had broken at Devon, visibility was unlimited, but the airline has opted not to try again until tomorrow morning. I will keep you advised of our progress. And Devon island is gorgeous - I can't wait to get on the ground!

The best part for me was on the way back we flew over some open water, and we saw tens to hundreds of white plumes on the water. We flew over an enormous pod of whales! Of course I was so amazed, I didn't take a single picture. We'll try again tomorrow morning!
